Hu Delivers Speech at APEC Business Summit

Chinese President Hu Jintao attended the business summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Sydney on Thursday and delivered a speech, expounding China's views on building a sustainable future.

In the speech entitled "Advancing Comprehensive Cooperation in Pursuit of Sustainable Development," Hu put forward a five-point proposal, calling for the promotion of balanced world economic growth, the establishment of a sound multilateral trading regime, the maintenance of stable energy supply and a sound natural environment and the advancement in science, technology and education.

Hu is in Sydney to attend the Economic Leaders' Meeting of the APEC forum slated on Sept.8-9.

The two-day APEC business summit, which opened Thursday, is an important forum of the APEC meetings.

It will focus on trade, market and structural issues, energy, clean development and climate change, education. The theme of business summit is "Strengthening our community, building a sustainable future."
