China managed an easy win over Chinese Taipei by 3-1 in their first match at the 2007 Asian men's volleyball championship in Jakarta on Monday.

Yu Dawei scored 15 points and made five blocks to lead China to the 25-15, 20-25, 25-18 and 25-21 win over the Chinese Taipei team. Shen Qiong had 14 points and Fang Yingchao 12.

Wang Ming-Chun lead the Chinese Taipei team with 19 points and Hung Jung-Chung had 13.

Chinese Taipei tried to beat China by their speedy attacks and firm defense, but they could only do it in the second set while China made too many unforced errors.

"The players were a little nervous on the court," said Zhou Jian'an, head coach of China, "They made too many mistakes during the game."

"But I am satisfied with the overall performance of the team," added Zhou.

After tied 1-1, China dominated the match as their attacks were unstoppable for the Chinese Taipei to claim the next two sets 25-18 and 25-21.

Hung Jung-Chung, captain of Chinese Taipei, said that they were not so sad on the results against China.

"We played fairly well today, but the Chinese players are too tall for us. They totally blocked our counter-attacks," said Hung.

"If a team like us wants to beat China, they have to do best in their serving. If China had a good receiving, their attacks over the net were too strong for the Asian teams," added Hung.
