Q. 1. Where can I on-line register for HSK?
The website of HSK online registration is http://www.hsk.org.cn. It would be ideal, but not required, for the computer to have a display resolution of 1024 X 768.
Q. 2. What are the tests that can get registered online?
Please check “考试时间查询”(Test Date) in “考试安排”(Test Schedule) on the homepage. (See Picture I) If the columns of “网上报名开始”(Online Registration Starts) and “网上报名截止” (Online Registration Ends) are indicated with specified dates, candidates may register online. (See Note A of Picture I). If both columns mentioned are left empty, candidates may not get registered online.
Candidates can register for the following tests: HSK (Basic), HSK (Elementary-Intermediate) and HSK (Advanced).
Q. 3. What are the test centers where I can register online?
Please select “中国大陆地区”(Mainland China) in “考点信息”(Test Center) on the homepage, you will arrive at what Picture II demonstrates. If “网上报名否”(Online Registration Available) is clicked, candidates may get registered online.
Q.4. Can I get registered in a conventional way in the test center that offers online registration service?
Sorry, you cannot. For more detailed information, please contact the test center.
Q.5. What do I need before the online registration?
i) Candidates are required to open a bank account with e-commerce capability in one of the following nine banks: the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China; China Merchant Bank; China Construction Bank; Agricultural Bank of China; Bank of Beijing; China Minsheng Bank; Guangdong Development Bank; Hua Xia Bank; and Industrial Bank.
ii) Candidates shall prepare a JPG file of less than 100 KB. It is required to be a 30 x 40 mm full-face photo without headwear.
Q.6. Am I supposed to use my own bank card?
No. You may borrow the bank card from other people.
Q.7. How can I get access to the registration page?
You can either click “网上报名” (online registration) on the homepage or go to “网上报名” (online registration) in “在线服务”(online service).
Q.8. What is the procedure for online registration?
To successfully register for HSK, you must complete all of these four steps in this consequence:

﹡log in and upload the photo
﹡make the reservation and pay the test fee
﹡claim the admission ticket in the test center
Q.9. Is it the same registration procedure for the Chinese minority candidates and candidates from other countries?
No. Candidates of these categories should select different access. Candidates from other countries (including overseas Chinese) may register and log in as Note A of Picture IV indicates. Chinese minority candidates may refer to Note B of the same picture.
Q.10. What should I pay attention to during the registration?
Please note the following items:
1) User name: Candidates shall create their own users names. Each user name should be of less than 30 characters and comprised of numbers or/ and English letters. Special characters are not allowed to use here. Candidates are suggested to take the ID number of your passport or Resident’s ID of P. R. C. as the users names.
2) Password: Candidates shall create their own passwords. Each password should be of less than 15 characters and comprised of numbers or/ and letters. Special characters are not allowed to use here. It is very important for the candidates to remember the user name and the password during the registration.
3) Passport Number/ Resident’s ID Number: Candidates of other countries (including overseas Chinese) are required to input their passport number. Chinese minority candidates are supposed to provide their Resident’s ID number. You must make sure that they are true and accurate. Once you have submitted them to the system, you will not be allowed to change them.
4) Date of Birth: Please input the date of birth according to the format: yyyy-mm-dd. For instance, June 20th, 1980 should be input as: 1980-06-20.
5) Nationality: The list of countries is organized in pinyin order. As soon as “其他国家”(Other country or location) is selected, please enter the name of the country in the space provided. See Picture V.
6) Profession status: If “Yes” is selected in “是否在职” (Are you the candidate with a full-time job?) , candidates are required to continue to select the “所属行业” (Professions).
