Next time when you talk to your Chinese friends, be bold enough to use the above expressions. Seeing the expression of surprise and praise on the face of your friend, you will certainly be very pleased.
OK, having finished today’s main course, we have prepared a dessert for you.

When dealing with the Chinese, you often hear them say “Re si le”, “Kun si le”, “Lei si le” ,“Fɑn si le” and so on. So many si le may make you wonder why on earth the Chinese like this word so much. Does si le mean “dead” here?Eh si le and lei si le can of course mean really “die of hunger” and “die of exhaustion”, but in everyday life, like the English word deadly, they usually mean “very, terribly”. So, eh si le means “ extremely hungry, starving, ravenous”. Similarly, lei si le usually does not mean “die from    exhaustion”, rather it expresses one’s physical exhaustion in an exaggerated manner, meaning the same as “very tired” . The   use of the word si simply serves to add vividness to one’s expression. So an adjective denoting one’s feelings, when modified by the words si le, can express such emotion to the maximum.
                  For example:
① When your girl friend has been complaining to you about a trivial matter for a whole day, you can then say, “Fɑn si le.”
② When your teacher has given you too much homework and your mother won’t let you go out to play with your friends, you can say, “I have been doing homework at home the whole time these past few days. Jiɑnzhi bɑ wo bie si le  ‘I am bored to death’”.
③ When your darling pet dog falls ill and won’t eat or drink anything and even the vet can do nothing about it, you will    surely be ji si le “extremely worried”.
