Usually, a phrase may be multilevel in structure. A close analysis of phrase structures helps us understand better the meanings of words in a combination and the relationship between words, e.g.  
  
 

　　Sometimes, the analysis can help to catch the meaning of words which leave room for different interpretations. For example, the phrase "进口汽车" can be taken as an endocentric structure which means "imported automobile(s)" or as a verb-object structure which means "to import automobile(s)". The following endocentric phrase has different relationship between its words and can be interpreted in different ways:
