Regular train services on the Qinghai–Tibet line were inaugurated on 1 July 2006. The Xining-Lhasa Tourist Train starts from Xining—capital of Qinghai Province, stops at Qinghai Lake, Bird Island, Golmud, Nanshan Pass, Nachitai, Yuzhu Peak, Kunlun Pass, Kekexili, Tuotuo River, Tanggula Mountain (Tangla), Amdo, Nakqu, Namco Lake, Dangxiong, Yambajan, and finally terminates at Lhasa—capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region.
旅行的起点是青海省西宁市。在登上列车之前，朋友们建议我先去塔尔寺参观，去感受藏传佛教*的魅力，因为，不了解它，你就没法真正了解西藏。
Our journey starts from Xining, Qinghai. Before I board the train my friends suggest that I go and pay a visit to the Taer Monastery to experience the appeal of Tibetan Buddhism because, they say, you can’t have a real grasp of Tibetan culture unless you get to know something about the Ta’er Monastery first.
