Many people prefer light food during the summer. However, you may also take tonic in the hot days Ducks' meat, which contains rich
proteins and some other necessary nutrients, may be served as an excellent tonic. According to the basic principle of traditional Chinese medicine, ducks' meat is good for people who suffer from internal fever, as the meat is cold by nature, and may cure some common diseases in summer, such as low fever, poor appetite, constipation (the condition of finding it difficult to empty your bowels) and dropsy (a medical condition in which liquid forms in parts of your body).
Ducks' meat also produces some miraculous effects when cooked with some other foods. For example, when stewed with ham and sea cucumber, the soup may replenish the yin of the five internal organs-heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys; with glutinous rice, the porridge may replenish the function of the stomach, enrich the blood, and promote the secretion of saliva or bodily fluids, and also
help one regain his/her health after a serious disease; with kelp, it may soften the blood vessels, reduce blood pressure, and prevent and cure arteriosclerosis (a disease in which your arteries become hard, which stops the blood from flowing through them smoothly), hypertension and heart disease; and, with bamboo shoots, it may treat bleeding piles (swollen mass of dilated veins around the anus or lower part of the rectum, having such symptoms as itching, soreness, pain, and bloody stool).
