Sugar, believe it or not, is an effective skin moisturizer, as it absorbs moisture.
Some of the ingredients in the cosmetics we use daily, to help keep moisture in our skin, are members of sugar's large family.
Despite the generally acknowledged benefits of tartaric acid (a strong acid that comes from a plant and is used in preparing some foods and medicines), its effects on the skin are equally terrifying. As a result, many women avoid using it. Scientists recently discovered,
though, that the effects may be reduced simply by adding sugar to the tartaric acid.
Like grape sugar, honey, a close relative to the sugar family, contains vitamins B and C and some minerals. As these ingredients keep in moisture, they are often used in lipsticks and moisturizing powder.
