One year, during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911),Emperor Kangxi visited Mount Wutai, in Shanxi Province, at therequest of his mother, to look for his father, Emperor Shunzhi, who had renounced the family to become a monk. One morning, Kangxi arrived at Zhenhai
Temple and noticed a monk sweeping the courtyard in front of the hall, The monk wore a black cotton-padded jacket, darkblue, double-layered trousers and a pair of cloth shoes. The monk looked kind and amiable. ”Will you please let me know your religious name?" Kangxi asked. "Call me Ba You, please," the monk answered. Then they continued on their separate ways. Kangxi looked around the temple but didn't find his father. However, he met the monk again and again. As he was leaving the temple, the disappointed Kangxi suddenly realized the characters Ba and You, when put together, created the character Fu (father)! Kangxi immediately returned to the temple. The monk was nowhere to be found.  However, the monk had left a poem on the wall. While reading the poem, Kangxi got to know that his father, Shunzhi, had been careless and broke a bowl that belonged to a senior monk at Huashan Temple, of Mount Wutai, shortly after he became a monk Shunzhi expressed hope that his son would provide compensation for the bowl. Subsequently, Kangxi presented some china bowls, made in Jingdezhen, in Jiangxi Province, which has long been a ceramic-manufacturing center, to all of the temples at Mount Wutai.
