San Mao(三毛,Echo Chen,March26,1945-Jan.4,1991) is the pen name of the Taiwanese writer Chen Ping(陈平).She was born in Chongqing, and went to Taiwan with her parents. She wrote autobiographical fiction based on her life in the Sahara with her Spanish husband and her travels to Europe and America. Since the mid 1970's, her works have been among the widdest popular literature in Taiwan and later in China.She killed herself by suicide.
