Since the founding of New China in 1949, the pipa has undergone reform. The xiangpa, yuepa, high tone pipa and electric pipa are all new types of pips for us to enjoy. Contemporacy pipa players include Lin Shicheng, Liu Dehai, Wang Fandi and others. The most popular tunes played are Flute and Drum at Sunset, High Moon, Spring, Ambush, Dance of the Yi Ethnic and Hua Mulun.
