In the late 70s, with the reform and opening-up of China, women's hairstyles once again became various. Permanent wave was all-the-vogue in cities once more. By the late 80s, the permanent wave became common. It was accompanied with another style that became popular with many young women, a natural hairstyle called "noodles in clear soup,”—wearing the hair to shoulder length without any perm.
