In 1980, the Beijing Toy Association (BTA) was established and I was elected the deputy director. In 1983, the Committee of Folk Arts and Crafts (under the China Arts and Crafts Association) was established and I again became deputy director. Thinking that folk handicrafts were also a part of our nation's traditional culture, I managed to establish the Beijing Folk Toy Society (BFTS), soon after the establishment of the BTA. I aimed to bring together experts, scholars and folk toy lovers in order to restore, sort out, collect and study folk toys.
