Zhang Zhaohe (1910-2003)wife of Shen Congwen. As one of the famous literary couples of China, their love endured the trials and hardships ofmore than half a century. After Shen's passing in 1988, Zhang began sorting out his piles of manuscripts until she was 90 years old. In December 2002, she saw the publication of the long-waited The Complete Works of Shen Congwen and the centennial celebrations of the birth of the prolific writer.
