The porcelain craft was highly developed in the Song Dynasty . There were many famous porcelain kilns spread all 
over the country , each with its own characteristics . They include :
Ru kiln . Fu kiln was in Linru county of Henan province . Its pale blue glazed porcelain articles were most famous .
Guan kiln . It produced porcelain articles with moonlight white , pale blue and green glazes .
Longquan Kilns . It produced light blue , light green and pale blue glazed porcelain articles . It was also called the “Elder Brother Kiln” and the “Younger Brother Kiln” because two brothers , named Zhang First and Zhang Second , in the Southern Song Dynasty fired porcelain here . They mastered the crackling technique making use of the different expansion coefficients of the biscuit and glaze . They were able to produce “hundred fold crackles” and “fish roe crackly” glazed porcelain articles with a strong decorative effect .
Ding Kiln . Mainly white glazed porcelain articles were fired here . These were decorated with incised , carved and printed patterns , showing a very high level of technique and artistry .
Jindezhen Kilns . In the town of Jindezhen there were concentrated many kilns . The workers in the Jindezhen kilns added a little iron to the translucent glaze to produce the famous misty blue porcelain articles , which were thin and smooth , elegant in form and translucent in color .
Cizhou Kiln . The workers at Cizhou kiln used stylus and glaze to produce black-grain white glazed porcelain articles . This method was freer than incising and embossing , leading to the transition to semi-painting and entire 
painting methods . Also Cizhou porcelain adopted the decorative method of semi-incising and semi-painting , multi-color carving , incising and color filling , etc . So , it had a strong contrast of black and white and presented a fresh style . This type of porcelain was extensively fired in private kilns in Hebei , Henan Shandong , Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces , generally called “Cizhou Kiln Type porcelain ware” . This type of porcelain is still used widely by farmers in northern China .
. Jian Kiln . Jian Kiln was renowned for the black-glazed porcelain it produced , which had beautiful patterns of “rabbit hair” , “partridge stripes” and “silver-star speckles”.
Jizhou Kiln . This kiln not only produced porcelain articles with “turtle specks” and “oil drop specks” , but also employed the new methods of leaves pattern and paper-cut patterns embossing . Also it produced the early blue and white porcelain , carved toy porcelain figurines , etc .
Jun Kiln . It was known for its “kiln transformation” technique . It fired porcelain ware in brilliant colors such as rose violet , crab apple red , moon white and azure .
