To sum up, the Chinese language is a unique language. It abounds with ideograms and pictograms. It is multi-dimensionally spatial, good at depiction the world in a spatial order. Ultimately, this characteristic of the Chinese language is determined by the particular culture mentality and thinking mode of the Chinese nation.
A detailed analysis of the above consists of the following points: In the first place, the Chinese language is based on the unification of the subjective and the objective, which is the most basic characteristic of the traditional Chinese philosophical thinking. The so-called “perceive things and make pictograms” method means the subject grasps the external world on the basis of his perceptive rationality. So, feelings and experiences are the essence of this method. Reflected in word coinage, it means putting stress on the pictographic, and employing the methods of pictography, ideography, indication, and pictographic-phonetics to achieve the unification of sound, meaning and form. Reflected in the word language structure, it means the habitual combination of meaning form of the word to make the work have a rich, recognizable content, highly imaginable and understandable.

In the second place, the traditional Chinese philosophical thinking tends to grasp the objects in the comprehensive. When the people’s recognition capability is not above the level of perceived rationality, people can only grasp the objects via their relations. Therefore, although a sentence in the Chinese language always indicates something, yet it often has a lot of implications. Take for example , the sentence : “Night gives me a pair of black eyes ,but I use them to search for light” , (from Gu Cheng : A Generation ) The sentence seems plain , but abounds in implications . Numerous such thought-provoking sentences are found in the Chinese language.

. In the third place, the traditional Chinese philosophy viewed the world as the unification of two contradictory aspects Yin and Yang (negative and positive). The contradiction brings forth the happening and development of all things .The traditional thinking mode must have a great influence on the forms and the development of the Chinese language, “Language is the practical… real ideology”. “The laws of language in its national forms are the national ideological laws”. For this reason, structurally, the Chinese language tends specially to use parallel, symmetrical, complementary and contrary forms to coordinate the meanings. In the syllables, the Chinese language tends to use combination of sound, rhyme, and tones to carry the meaning.
In fine, the starting point of the traditional Chinese thinking is the entirety and the unification of the subjective and the objective. This thinking mode stands out for its pictographic and experiential characteristics. The Chinese language is dominated by this dialectical thinking mode, that emphasizes the interrelations within and the governing of the forms by the essence.
