Sakyamuni Pagoda of Fameng Temple in Ying county of Shanxi province , known popularly as Wooden Pagoda in 
Yin County , constructed in the second year of the reign of Qingning (1056 A.D.) in the Liao Dynasty , is a storeyed architecture . It has an octagonal plane and a total of nine storeys . Five storeys are evident on the outside and four storeys are evident in the inside . It is a state-protected key cultural unit . It is 67.31 m . high and its ground storey have a diameter of about 30 m. It is entirely made with wooden frame work and wooden structure corbels and is precisely proportioned. It is magnificently shaped , being the highest and oldest wooden pagoda now existent in China .
Imperial Palace in Beijing . The magnificent , ancient imperial palace of the Ming-Qing Dynasties is situated in the centre of Beijing City . Also called the Forbidden City , it is the oldest , most perfect ancient wooden architecture complex preserved in the world . It occupies an area of 720,000 square meters .
The Forbidden City is 961 meters long from north to south and 753 meters wide from east to west . It is enclosed by a more than ten meters high city wall and a 52-meter wide moat ; with a turret on each of the four corners of the city wall . The turret is shaped like a square cross in the plane and has a complex structure (with 72 roof ridges) , 
presenting an elegant look .
Within the Forbidden City there are now over 9,000 rooms . The construction of it began in the 4th year of the reign of Yongle (1406 A.D.) in the Ming Dynasty and was basically completed in the 18th year of the reign of Yongle (1420 A.D.) It has a building area of 150,000 square meters . The layout of the buildings is meticulous and regular , with the cardinal and secondary buildings clearly distinguishable and with varied interspaces . A north-south axis goes through the Forbidden City from Tiananmen Square to Mount Jin , coinciding with the axis of the ancient city of Beijing . Going from Tiananmen Gateway to Duanmen Gateway and passing a stone paved imperial path , one arrives at the main entrance of the Forbidden City—the Meridian Gateway , which has a recessed plane . At its middle is a nine-partition storeyed building , 35,6-meters high and with a hip roof . On each of its two wings are four double-eaves storeyed buildings connected with corridors , known popularly as the Five-Phoenix Tower .
Behind the meridian Gateway , the Forbidden City is divided into the front part , or the Outer Court and the rear part , or the Inner Court .
