(BEIJING, January 30) -- The replay of the Asian Qualification in both the men's and women's categories for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games took place on January 29, 2008, at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. In the women's competition, the Republic of Korea defeated Japan 34-21.
The ROK girls delivered an excellent performance Tuesday night. Although they were challenging the host, they led 18-12 in the first half and finally got the victory with a score of 34-21.
The ROK women's team therefore got the ticket for the Beijing Olympic Games. This is the seventh time that the ROK women's team has qualified for the Olympic Games.
The Japanese team will attend the IHF Women's Handball Olympic Qualifiers between March 28 and 30.
The men's competition between the ROK and Japan will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday night (Tokyo time).
