ACCRA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- A 3-1 triumph over Senegal in a Group D match put Angola closer to the quarterfinals of the 26th Africa Nations Cup on Sunday in the northern Ghanaian city of Tamale.

The match can be nicknamed as "a night of headers" as three out of the four goals were headers, while the hero of the game is Angola's Manucho Goncalves, a new recruit of Manchester United who netted two goals in the group match.

Senegal enjoyed a half-time lead after its striker Abdoulaye Faye opened the scoring with a header from the left in the 20th minute. Its smile, however, did not last long as Manucho brought the equalizer by taking the same position shortly after the restart.

The witty forward made use of the chaos before the net of Senegal in the 67th minute and scored a goal from the void between two Senegalese defenders. After 10 minutes, His teammate Flavio Amado extended the lead with another header.

Senegal could have gone further ahead but missed quite a few of chances due to the lack of coordination between the players and the porous defense in the second half.

It is just the fourth time for Angola to join the finals of the Africa Nations Cup. Angola have yet to get past the first round of the continental tournament.
