ACCRA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia embraced its first victory on Sunday in the 26th Africa Nations Cup in Ghana by beating SouthAfrica 3-1 in the northern Ghanaian city of Tamale.
The victory cast more light on the prospect of Tunisia to move into the quarter-finals of the continental tournament as the first two matches of Group are both draws. Brazilian-born Tunisian star Francileudo dos Santos contributed two goals in the eighth and 34th minute.
The other goal was scored by Chaouki Ben Saada in the 31st minute as he received the ball which was bounded back after a shot by Santos hit the post and struck without hesitation. South Africa's substitute Katlego Mphela offered some comfort to South Africa with his goal at the very end of the match.
In the preceding Group D match, Angola beat pre-favorite Senegal with the same result, stunning soccer pundits who used to take Angola merely as a participant of the Africa Nations Cup.
The outcomes rank Tunisia and Angola shoulder by shoulder in Group D with a total of four points. The two will have a match on Thursday in Tamale.
