MEXICO CITY, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Argentine Cesar Luis Menotti was announced on Thursday as the new coach for Tecos of Guadalajara Autonomous University (UAG) Mexican soccer club team.

Menotti, 68, will replace Argentine coach Dario Franco, who was fired after Friday's 3-0 loss against Atlante club and became the first coach fired after the third game period.

"Mr. Cesar Luis Menotti is coming to take charge of the team," Tecos president Jose Antonio Leano told the press on Thursday.

Menotti coached the Argentine 1978 World Cup team and this will be his third experience as coach in Mexican soccer.

Menotti's first experience with Mexican soccer was Mexico's national team in the early 1990s and he also made a brief attempt to return Puebla club to first division in 2006.

Menotti's also coached Argentina's Independiente in 2005. He will arrive to western Mexican city of Guadalajara next week, Leano said.

Therefore Tecos' visit to America club on Sunday will be coached by Mexican Jaime Ordiales.

Tecos currently has one point and is last in the standings.
