Adidas-sponsored athletics big names visit Beijing
Maurice Greene and Jeremy Wariner, both of the US, trains with Chinese amateur athletes during a visit to the Beijing Sport University on February 4, 2007.

(BEIJING, February 4) -- Six Adidas-sponsored standouts in athletics visited the Beijing Sport University on Monday, helping 40 middle school amateur athletes train and sharing secrets of success with them.

The big names included men's 100 m champion Tayson Gay of the US, 400 m champion Jeremy Wariner of the US, women's 100 m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown of Jamaica, 200 m champion Allyson Felix of the US, 400 m hurdles champion Jana Rawlinson of Australia, long-distance legend Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia.

Former 2000 Sydney Olympic champion Maurice Greene of the US was also invited.

As a partner of the Beijing Olympic Games, sportswear giant Adidas is intent on spreading the sense of sportsmanship -- that "Impossible Is Nothing" -- by means of a variety of exchanges.

Apart from Maurice Greene, others, who are still actively competing in athletics, have claimed a total of 24 Olympic and world championship gold medals. As Adidas's Olympic heralds, they visited Beijing to get a feel for the Olympic spirit to welcome the Beijing Olympic Games.

Veteran Maurice Greene was the head coach of today's training sessions. He encouraged the amateur athletes to increase their knowledge and skills to prepare themselves for their athletics careers.

The National Stadium, or the Bird's Nest, on Monday welcomed the six athletes, who will compete at the venue in August. They also visited the Great Wall.

These stars looked forward to the Beijing Olympic Games and encouraged all the people to show their support for the Olympics in an effort to turn "impossibilities" to "possibilities."

Adidas will offer the best equipment to the six stars in August and provide sports shoes and clothes for 27 out of 28 sports.
