BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- German swimmer Britta Steffen won the title of the women's 50 meters freestyle in China Open here on Saturday morning.

Steffen, the world record holder in the women's 200-meter butterfly, clocked 24.93 seconds, edging her Brazilian rival Flavia Cazziola in 25.44 and her teammate Daniela Goetz in 25.51.

Steffen said she was satisfied with her performance, adding that she was considering to compete in the 50-meter race in the Olympics.

The German had grabbed Friday's 100-meter butterfly race in 54.73 seconds, 1.23 second slower than the world record.

China Open, which opened on Thursday, served as a test of the venue ahead of the Beijing Olympics but attracted few world-class swimmers. Swimming powerhouses like the United States and Australia only sent observers to the event.
