BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese swimmer You Meihong won the gold of women's 800 meters freestyle at China Open here on Saturday.
You overtook Romanian Ionela Cozma at 500 meters before she clocked a winning time of eight minutes and 31.18 seconds.
The 15-year-old said she was excited to make her debut in an international race with a gold .
"It's exciting. I'm also glad to see the result and it was about one second faster than my personal best," said You.
Another Chinese swimmer Li Mo placed second in 8:40.36 and Cozma touched the wall third in 8:43.96.
