(BEIJING, Dec. 27) -- Olympic education is already included as part of the regular curriculum for all Beijing primary and middle schools. BOCOG has supplied 1.1 million books for the purpose. Until now, "Beijing 2008 Olympic Education" has been progressing smoothly.
In December 2005, the "Beijing 2008 Olympic Education" program was launched, and 20 schools in Beijing were enlisted in the first group of "Beijing 2008 Olympic Model Schools."
At present, there are 556 schools across the country named as "Beijing 2008 Olympic Education Model Schools," and 200 of them are in Beijing. The model schools play important roles in carrying out Olympic education in China.
Furthermore, as part of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Educational Program, the Heart-to-Heart Partnership program has been widely implemented. So far, 209 primary and secondary schools in Beijing have been partnered with 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the Olympic Family.
During Games-time, the Heart-to-Heart partner schools in Beijing will greet their partner NOC athletic delegation in the Team Welcome Ceremony at the Olympic Village and support athletes at the competition sessions. Additionally, the corresponding delegations will also be invited to visit their partner schools in Beijing.
