April 3, 2006 - The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to launch the Athlete Outreach Model, a program developed to assist the sporting community in the fight against doping in sport.
By adopting the WADA Athlete Outreach Model, anti-doping organizations, national Olympic committees, international federations, and national federations can easily and effectively deliver athlete outreach and education in their own sport.
Athlete Outreach Model
Given the overwhelming success of WADA's Athlete Outreach Program, WADA has developed an Athlete Outreach Model that WADA's key stakeholders can adopt for their own sport-specific or national programs to educate their athletes about the dangers and consequences of doping.
Several organizations have already partnered with WADA to develop athlete outreach programs for their sport and region:
- International Rugby Board (IRB): Rugby Under 19 World Championship, in Durban, South Africa (2005)
- Swiss Federal Office for Sport: European Youth Olympic Festival, in Monthey, Switzerland (2005)
- Chinese Olympic Committee Anti-Doping Commission: China National Games, in Nanjing, China (2005)
