Rogge: international consensus against boycott
President Rogge

(BEIJING, April 12) -- On Friday evening, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge told reporters that the organization was very satisfied with preparatory work Beijing has completed for the August Games.

Rogge spoke with admiration about BOCOG's completed and ongoing efforts during this last phase of preparations, and thanked the Beijing organization for their hard work on behalf of the Olympic Games. The IOC will continue to work cooperatively with BOCOG in order to ensure the hosting of a high-level Olympic Games with distinguishing features.

The president addressed concerns about performance-enhancing drug use by explaining that BOCOG will perform detailed tests on athletes during the Games to discern whether or not any doping was involved. Not only will the top five athletes in each event undergo testing, another two competitors will be selected for tests.
