Ribbon-cutting for the Beijing Folk Art & Craft Show
(BEIJING, July 7) -- More than 300 works from over 100 renowned Chinese fork artists and craftsmen are on display at the China Millennium Monument in Beijing.
An event of the on-going Fourth Beijing 2008 Olympic Cultural festival, the show features more than 30 art and craft varieties, including paper-cutting, kite-making, dough modeling, opera facial make-up, silk doll making, painting inside a bottle, embroidery, eggshell painting, stone painting, as well as horsemane doll making.
The reputed artists and craftsmen blended their love for traditional Chinese folk art with their passion for the Olympic Games. The theme of their works is related to the Olympiad or their best wishes.
Organized by Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Beijing Society of Folk Artists, the exhibition was opened on Friday and will stay until July 16.
Tu Mingde, assistant to the president of the Beijing Organizing committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon for the event.
