On September 17, the last of the steel links needed in the construction of the National Stadium, or "Bird's Nest" was transported, two years after construction of the venue began. In April of 2003, after serious consideration and research, Swiss company Herzog & de Meuron, Britain's Ove Arup, and China's Architecture and Research Design Firm together came up with the idea of the unique design of the National Stadium to resemble a bird's nest. The photograph shows images of what the "Bird's Nest" and the "Water Cube" will look like when completed.
