(BEIJING, January 14) -- The newly-completed Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium is to serve as the main venue for the Olympic basketball preliminaries and finals. For local residents, it will be an ideal place for them to keep fit after the Beijing Games.
Lounge at the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium
Located in the western part of Beijing, it covers 168,000 sq m with three floors underground and four floors aboveground. It can accommodate 18,000 spectators as they watch exhilarating games at the venue.
It will undergo the test of the women's basketball invitational tournament on April 19 as part of a "Good Luck Beijing" pre-Olympic event and witness the lottery ceremony of the Olympic basketball competitions.
It is part of the Wukesong sports center complex, which consists of the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium and Baseball Gymnasium as well as other facilities.
