IOC officials and the venue team in a working session
(BEIJING, August 20) -- Everything looks good!
This is how officials of the International Olympic Committee evaluated the just-completed Olympic Green Archery Field in Beijing on Monday.
During an on-site tour of the venue for the Olympic archery competitions in 2008, Hein Verbruggen, IOC Coordination Commission for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, Gilbert Felli, IOC Olympic Games Executive Director and others viewed the competition and warm-up fields, athletes' rest area, media working zone, work room of International Archery Federation (FITA), media stand and spectator stands.

Making a stop at the spectator stand, the IOC officials inquired about the floor material and checked if the floor is comfortable and excellently maintained. At an entrance Felli not only obtained information about the procedure of security check, but also went through the check as an ordinary spectator and kept the pass time before the smiling volunteers.
"So far I've seen eight venues in Beijing and all of them were excellently built. I am satisfied with their hardware facilities and the work of the organizing committee. Their organizational levels have met high standards," said Felli.
Located on the Olympic Green, the archery field adjoins the Olympic Tennis Center in the north and buttresses the Olympic Hockey Field in the south. With a total area of 9.22 hectares, it covers a floor space of 8,609 square meters. The venue has three archery fields, including one for ranking games and two for medal rounds. Four bus lines are operating alongside the field now and a new subway line running to the area is slated in 2008.
